Dear Ward 12 Neighbour,

Summer's almost done and the backpacks are coming out. Before that happens, I want to get our communities together one more time.

This is the first Back to School Bash, and I wanted it to be the kind of thing you can walk to with your kids on a Saturday without buying a ticket. Food trucks, live music, bouncy castles, a petting zoo, face painting, balloon animals, and a dunk tank with me in it.

That last part was not my idea, but I have been assured it will raise the turnout. So come take your shot.

Ward 12 is the largest ward in the city by population and one of the fastest growing. That growth is why our office has spent this year pushing on the basics: traffic fixes at 52nd and Seton, the McKenzie Towne circle, new flashing beacons in Mahogany, a playground zone in Seton, answers on the southeast odour issue, and plenty more you've raised with us.

It's also why days like this matter. A ward this size only feels like a neighbourhood if we actually show up in the same place once in a while.
